Synopsis:
In TURNED (Book #1 of the Vampire Journals series), 18 year old Caitlin Paine finds herself uprooted from her nice suburb and forced to attend a dangerous New York City high school when her Mom moves again. The one ray of light in her new surroundings is Jonah, a new classmate who takes an instant liking to her.

But before their romance can blossom, Caitlin suddenly finds herself changing. She is overcome by a superhuman strength, a sensitivity to light, a desire to feed--by feelings she does not understand. She seeks answers to what’s happening to her, and her cravings lead her to the wrong place at the wrong time. Her eyes are opened to a hidden world, right beneath her feet, thriving underground in New York City. She finds herself caught between two dangerous covens, right in the middle of a vampire war.

It is at this moment that Caitlin meets Caleb, a mysterious and powerful vampire who rescues her from the dark forces. He needs her to help lead him to the legendary lost artifact. And she needs him for answers, and for protection. Together, they will need to answer one crucial question: who was her real father?

But Caitlin finds herself caught between two men as something else arises between them: a forbidden love. A love between the races that will risk both of their lives, and will force them to decide whether to risk it all for each other.

My Review:
Well I got this book cause I forgot my Kindle and was out and had time to read, so after reading the synopsis I bought it and started reading. Caitlin is your average teenage girl whose mother bounces around a lot. Caitlin is not new to being the 'new girl' at school. When she is forced to start at a school in New York City she finds one thing tht brightens her view on going there, Jonah, who Caitlin instantly starts to care for. Plus the feeling is mutual with Jonah.

However that all changes when she is walking home and witnesses a pack of bully's beating on Jonah. She instantly jumps in to save and help him. Its then she realizes something is different about her. She has super strength, speed, and vision. She takes the bullies down.

Then comes the incredible urge to feed(and not on regular food) that she cant control. While out with Jonah she can no longer control it and feeds on someone. Now Kyle from a very bad powerful coven is after her since she fed in their territory and while captured by them, Caleb rescues her. But due to a spin on what she exactly is no coven will take her in. So back out on her own she goes expecting to never see Caleb again who she immediately had a love for and found out he feels the same too. Except, he cant leave his coven and be with her.

While out on her own she encounters Kyle and his coven and then Caleb appears abandoning his coven to be with her. However you will have to read the book on your own to find out what happens.

I loved Caitlin's attitude through this book. She is the type to act before thinking and she is very strong. She never backs down and never lets anyone get the best of her. We know we all love that in a female lead!! I know I sure do!

This book was very short. You didnt get to know the characters or get a feel of them to become attached or to pick faves. Not a lot of description and very hard to put yourself in any of the characters shoes. However it is a good short book to read in between other books or while waiting for books.

Even with that being said I will be checking out Book #2 in this series to see what happens further with Caitlin and the dangerous coven and to see where Jonah/Caitlin and Caleb/Caitlin's relationships go.
