Barely Alive Tour & Review

Barely Alive Blurb:

In twelve weeks, seventeen-year-old Paul Ledger will be dead. At least he hopes so.

Paul is trapped in the worst cult the United States has ever seen. Infected with a zombie virus, symptoms culminate in a dead body but thriving mind over a course of twelve weeks. If he doesn’t earn the final death he longs for, he’ll be chained in a basement facility, moaning for human flesh for eternity.

Sent out to kidnap girls for food, toys, or whatever the boss wants, Paul nabs Heather McCain. He’s not a fan of humans as a general rule, but even his graying skin and insatiable hunger for her flesh don’t stop her from reaching out to him. Give him the second chance he doesn’t know he needs.

Overcome by his cravings, Paul bites her delectable skin. Amazingly, she doesn’t develop the zombie-like side effects. When the boss discovers Heather’s immunity, he gives Paul an ultimatum – deliver up Heather and her family to continue the research or watch as Paul’s brother suffers the zombie fate.

Paul has a chance to endure his short zombie existence knowing his brother is safe. But he’ll have to sacrifice Heather to do it.

About the Author:
Bonnie R. Paulson mixes her science and medical background with reality and possibilities, (‘cause zombies are so plausible, right?) to make even myths seem likely and give every romance the genetic strength to survive. Please travel with her to the other side where Happy-Ever-Afters are real, the journey is just harder.

My Review of Barely Alive:

In twelve weeks, seventeen-year-old Paul Ledger will be dead. At least he hopes so.

Paul is infected with a zombie virus where his brain will continue to live and thrive but his body will decay around him. His only chance for survival, a human, named Heather. Heather is immune to the injection containing the zombie virus and is also immune to the bite of the infected. Paul teams up with a doctor and his wife as well as Heather to find a vaccine and cure for this zombie virus before the world is destroyed by them all while taking down the boss who created the virus.

This book at first was very hard for me to get in to. Its slow paced in the beginning and took a lot for me to keep reading and not quit. However Im glad that I did not quit this book because it does get VERY GOOD! It also has a HUGE cliff hanger of an ending that leaves you like 0_o and wanting to read the 2nd book to continue the journey.

Paul is not your typical infected zombie. He has a strong will power and fights the virus every step of the way. He still has control over himself and is able to be around the two humans in his group without losing it and eating them. He still has his brain smarts to him. When things really hit the fan he sticks to his guns and doesnt give Heather over to the boss when he demands her or he will ruin everything and every one in his life.

Heather is not your typical girl either. Most girls would not be caught near someone infected with a zombie virus or start to have feeling for them. Heather starts to fall for Paul even though throughout the book she is fighting it. She sticks by Paul through thick and thin in this book and helps through every obstacle of making sure their loved ones are safe from the boss and the zombies.

Paul, Connie and her husband, and Heather have to raise to figure out a cure for this infection before Paul and James are dead.  Or worse before the boss finally gets Heather.

Definitely a book I would recommend to be read. However because of the slower beginning Im gonna give this book a 4.
