Are you looking for a cheap and fun activity to do with your children during the summer break? Then check out the #DIY Soap Crayons. Soap Crayons can run pretty pricey buying them in a department store. So save money and time by doing them on your own at home. Plus the kiddos will really enjoy making them.
Ingredients that you need:
Measuring Cup
Bar of Ivory Soap(you can get 3 bars for $2 at your local Dollar General or Family Dollar stores)
Food Grater
Food Coloring
Fill your measuring cup with 1/8 cup water.
Using your food grater grate 3/4 of the Ivory Soap Bar
Add water and soap flakes to a bowl. Then mix until you a have a soapy paste.
Add about 50 drops of food coloring of your choice to the soapy paste.
Stir until the food coloring is all mixed through the soapy paste.
My oldest chose red.
My youngest chose yellow.
Press the mixture into ice cube trays or a mold of your choice.
Allow to dry thoroughly. We let ours dry for 3 days.
The finished product!
Then pop them out of the ice tray or mold and they are ready to use for bathroom fun. The kids will love them and have fun. You know whats in the product and know that it is safe. Plus you are saving a ton of money. This project to put everything together, mix everything, and get them in the trays only took us between 5-10 minutes to do. The hardest part was my kiddos patience waiting for them to try, lol. They were so excited when it was finally done and ready to use. This project was great for my oldest to help refresh her on measurements during the summer break. It was a great sensory project for my youngest and also a good project for teaching step by step instructions.
